Our experts from Old Dubai will give you valuable tips for booking your hotel in the northern neighborhoods, near the tourist district, Bur Dubai, Deira, not to mention the hotels near the Dubai airport. We will talk about the best hotels, for all budgets, including guest houses.

In the heart of the historic district

There are few hotels in the immediate vicinity of Dubai's tourist attractions. If you're looking for an authentic venue, as opposed to the city's sanitized luxury hotels, this is the XVA Art Hotel for you. This guest house is located in the renovated historic district of Bastakiya. An excellent choice in a quiet, short walk to major attractions such as Fort Al Fahidi (Dubai Museum), souks, Khor Dubai and Heritage Village. It's a favorite.

In the same style but with a more rustic comfort, let us quote the Orient Guest House nearby, the Barjeel Heritage Guest House (on the heritage village side) and the Ahmedia Heritage Guesthouse, located on the other side of Khor Dubai near museums.

The other choices are limited if we exclude hotels of average quality. If you book through our Booking.com affiliate partner, we strongly recommend that you do not take any risks in this area and do not book in the establishments with customer reviews lower than 8, because there are very bad addresses. So there is only one option left on the South Bank: the Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa with a heavy decoration. On the North Shore, a correct 4-star hotel: the Hyatt Place Dubai Baniyas Square. Also worthy of note is the Riviera Hotel and the Deira Creek Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai, despite their more up-to-date decor. You will understand, it is not in the historic district of Dubai where hotel chains invest. A bit more out of the ordinary, the Hyatt Regency Dubai Heritage Area and the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers are our recommendations if you're looking for comfort, with a special mention at the Sheraton for its beautiful views of the Creek and its nice little marina.

Hotels in South Bur Dubai

Not far from the Dubai Museum, going a little further south, there are a few decent hotels. They are not the best in the city, but they offer a compromise between price and comfort. For example the hotel Melia in the Al Raffa district, and the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel, both of which have 5 stars, but according to us are rather at the level of a 4 stars. In this category, the Burjuman Arjaan by Rotana is a good choice and the possibility to rent an apartment.

The hotels near the airport

Around Dubai Airport, one of the largest in the world in terms of passengers and international connections, a large and quality hotel offering is developing. Most of these hotels are exposed to airport nuisances, and are therefore preferred for short stays or for a long transit at the airport.

The best hotels are near Festival City, and are spared by the low-level flyover of planes: Intercontinental Hotels (Residence Suite and Dubai Festival City), and the excellent Palazzo Versace Dubai, with its very... Versace decoration.

Among the abundant offer of 4-star hotels, some addresses have caught our attention: the Suba Hotel, which is an excellent value for money, the Hilton Dubai Creek, for its rooms modern and beautiful views of the Creek, and the Al Ghurair Arjaan of the Rotana chain.

Closer to the airport and therefore more suitable for transit and business, here are our good addresses: the Pullman Dubai Creek City Center of the Accor chain, the Somewhere Hotel Apartment and the excellent Park Hyatt Dubai (and also very expensive). The two correct hotels within walking distance of the airport terminals are the Dubai International Terminal Hotel, 5 star level, and the Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport, a standard 3 stars.

How to book hotel in Bur Dubai

It is best to book through a recognized booking center like our affiliate partner Booking.com, and pay attention to other travelers' comments, especially in this area. Unmarried (or unisex) couples can stay in Dubai hotels without providing a marriage certificate. The hotel will ask for check-in for travelers' ID and a credit card for the deposit.
