Hatta Dam: the water reservoir of Hatta
The Hatta Reservoir is a very rare reserve of surface water in the United Arab Emirates. The Hatta Dam was created in the middle of the mountains and its mission is to control and supply water to the plantations and dwellings of the region. A nice point of view and a nice site to take a break.

Walks and picnic
By parking his car at the top of the dam, it is possible to walk on the top of the dam and walk down to the edge of the body of water. A short run from the parking also leads down to the lake. The site can be a nice stop for a picnic, but there is no vegetation so very little shade.

There is another track which allows to reach a point of view in height. 4x4 vehicle not mandatory.

Hotels in Hatta
Two hotels are available around Hatta: the JA Hatta Fort Hotel, 4 star level, with comfortable and quiet amenities as long as you avoid Thursday and Friday, weekend days in the UAE. The second, the Holiday Arabian Resort, is located outside the resort, close to the border with the emirate of Dubai, but we found it expensive for benefits well below the regional average.

Access map and practical information
The dam is commonly called Hatta Dam but its real name is Al Hattavi Dam. Access to the dam is easy from the Hatta Heritage Village following a 2-kilometer paved road that ends at the top of the dam.
